Introducing Dolfinz:
We first heard these dudes after they emailed us a link to their Soundcloud page and after catching 30 seconds of their live show we were hooked. A short while later, chatting over a 20 pack of Bier De France at Tuff Towers, we came to a mutual agreement to cut some of their fuzzed-out, washed-out fuck-pop bliss to wax. The result? The Teenage Doom/Noisebleed 7”, due out in late November.
Teenage Doom & Nosebleed are two fine examples of the surf-tinged, ear-punishing 3-minute-wonders that these two cute lil’ weirdos are killing us with right now! Limited to just 200 copies, Teenage Doom/Nosebleed is available to buy on 7” & digital download on Monday, November 21st. Snafu is proud to present a very special TUFF WAX label showcase to celebrate the release of the second offering from the much-hyped Aberdeen Truth 7” series featuring man-of-the-moment & all-around badman YOIN. Once again, four of the series’ producers take to the decks to play a mix of bass-heavy hip hop, garage, bassline, grime, house & dubstep, both home-grown and otherwise.
The ABERDEEN TRUTH series is the first to showcase Aberdeen’s new wave of underground producers, with each pressing ultra-limited & hand numbered on coloured 7” vinyl.
On YOIN’s offering, ‘Martial Status’ wastes no time in kicking things off with neck-snapping intergalactic juke vibes, bold synths & ghostly pitched-down vocal samples from the get-go. Easily Aberdeen’s worst kept secret, ‘Martial Status’ has been spun by the likes of MachineDrum for his Mary-Anne Hobbs mix earlier this year, as well as being featured in Mad Decent’s Roundup #36. On ‘Wrong To Feel This Way’, nervous synth chords crash & shatter around YOIN’s signature complex 808 rhythms while the filtered vocal loops keep you grounded – in time we can see the flip becoming as hyped as the A-side offering, too.
TUFF WAX was founded in the tail end of 2009 in Aberdeen as a boutique label aiming to revive interest in high quality vinyl, catalogue emerging scenes in the UK and release niche, collectable low-run pressings.
